Who Can Register To Vote To register to vote in Brunswick County you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Be a legal resident domiciled in Brunswick County and North Carolina for 30 days by the date of the next general election day;
- Be 18 years of age or older by next general election day;
- Have had citizenship rights restored, if ever convicted of a felony;
- Not be registered nor will vote in any other county or state.
*Individuals who will turn 18 years of age before the general election day but after the primary election voter registration deadline may register and vote in the primary; but they may not register earlier then 60 days before the primary election.” NCGS 163-59
Voter Registration Deadline To register to vote in Brunswick County you must:
- Meet the voting requirements (noted above).
- Complete a registration application. (See below for information about party affiliation.)
- Submit (mail or personally deliver) completed application at least 25 days before election day.
The North Carolina voter registration deadline is 25 days before Election Day. If a North Carolina resident misses the 25 day voter registration deadline, he/she may register and vote during one-stop absentee voting. For more information on one-stop registration, please click here.
How to Obtain a Voter Registration Application There are several ways to obtain a North Carolina voter registration form:

2. Department of Motor Vehicles
Individuals may register or makes changes to their existing Brunswick County voter registration record when at the DMV getting or renewing their North Carolina driver’s license or ID card.
3. County-wide Locations

4. Board of Elections Office
Individuals may register in person at the Board of Elections office. The office is located in Building F of the county government center in Bolivia, NC. Upon request, the Board of Elections office will also mail a voter registration form to anyone.
Voter ID Cards Approximately 3-4 weeks after submitting your voter registration application you will receive a voter ID card in the mail. This voter ID card is simply for your personal records. You are not required to present it to vote. This card will show your precinct name, your polling location name and address, your political party affiliation, and the various electoral jurisdictions in which you reside.
If you make changes to an existing Brunswick County voter registration record, you will likewise receive a new voter ID card in the mail reflecting those changes. It also is simply for your personal records.
Upon receiving your voter ID card in the mail, if everything on the card is correct then you keep the card. You do not send it back to the Board of Elections office. Only voter confirmation cards must be completed, signed, and returned to the Board of Elections office. These confirmation cards come in a business reply format and do not require postage for their return.
