Goals for the future of the Brunswick County School System

1.  Increase academic performance for all students.

2.  Adhere to national, state and local policies, procedures and statutes.

3.  Provide all students and staff with a safe learning environment.

4.  Plan for long-term success, both in bricks and mortar and academics.

5.  Promote career, technical and post-secondary education for all students.

6.  Provide an open-communications process and involvement for all stake-holders.

7.  Reduce the dropout rate.

8.  Reduce the widening gap for minority achievement.

9.  Expect only the highest professionalism by all employees.

10. Participate in the educational process demonstrating expertise, integrity, professionalism, and honesty.

Pose Direct Questions and Expect Direct Answers.  GET TO THE ESSENCE of the Problem, Determine CLEAR and CONCISE measurable strategies that will improve the effectiveness of our schools.  Move our schools into positive and successful future educational endeavors.

There was a storm...washed ashore were hundreds of starfish.  A young child was walking along the beach picking them up and throwing them back in to the water.  Why are you doing that, you can't possibly pick them all up.

What does it matter? Well, it matters to this ONE, he said. Well, it matters to this student.  And that one.  And that one.

One step at a time.....a clearly defined path, a brighter future for our graduates.
