Register of Deeds Robert J Robinson

Biography

Mr. Robinson, a life long resident, was the youngest elected and is the longest serving Register of Deeds in the history of this County and has been elected to (CountyWide) public office longer than any other elected official in Brunswick County.
 
Elected in1980, he is responsible for a large volume of Records involving Real Estate transactions, Births, Deaths, Marriages, Military Discharges, Notary Public Oaths, Maps and Plats, Uniform Commercial Codes (local filings), Assumed Names Certificates, Official Bonds, Farm Names, Timber Marks, Corporation Records, Farmland Districts, Registration of Historic Landmarks, Limited Partnerships, and other recordings,

In February 2000, became the first county in North Carolina to allow access to real estate property and vital records, via the Internet (http://rod.brunsco.net/) which includes printable images of the recorded documents at no cost to the public.

Awards and offices held include:

Outstanding Achievement Award-19090-1991 by the North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds.

Preservation of Land Records Management Program—1991 by the North Carolina Property Mappers Association.

Outstanding Register of Deeds--1991-1992 by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

Legislative Chairman--North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds 1991-1992/1993-1994.

Capitol Citation--North Carolina Secretary of State 1992.

Secretary--North Carolina Association of Register of Deeds 1996.

Four National Achievements Awards--National Association of Counties.

Certified Notary Public Instructor—North Carolina Secretary of State.

Certified Register of Deeds--University of North Carolina School of Government.

The office of Register of Deeds is an elected office with 4 yr. terms. The office is governed by the General Statutes of North Carolina and is subject to the will of the North Carolina General Assembly. Located at the County Government Center in Building I the office exists primarily to enable owners of interest in real property to give public notice of that ownership.

Board Meetings

The Brunswick County Board Of Commissioners holds a regular Board Meeting the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month.

School Board Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the school board admin office--County Extension Service Training Room, County Complex; 35 Referendum Drive.
